First league game of the season against Tregorrick results

16/09/2017 By Charlestown Youth FC

First League game of the season today against Tregorrick. Game was split into thirds today. We started very shaky not really keeping possession or creating any space.

Once we settled I thought we played some really good football, and for the middle 40 minutes, I thought we controlled the game, with some quick one-touch passing, opening the opposition up.

Last 15 minutes was a bit scrappy, but I know the conditions didn’t help that.

Goals in the first half came from a fine header from Adam and a perfectly taken free kick from Dan

Scored three more in the second following a penalty, taken by Dan, after a foul was awarded for a challenge on Aiden , Ollie netted a long-range shot and Ash direct from the corner spot.

Tregorrick battled hard the whole game putting away two, leaving our first game with a 5-2 win.

A great start, and you all worked hard, with spells of excellent football.

Home next week to newly formed St Columb, 1030 KO on Sunday

Game against Truro will be on Sunday this week 1030 KO at Malpas. Truro unable to play on Saturday.

This will be an important match as will decide the league leaders, so we all must get focused and put this week’s result behind us.

I am sure we can come back and win this as you are quality footballers, and the team spirit is improving all the time.

Please try to arrive for around 10 am.

Luke Cup Quarter final today against Charlestown Dynamos

This was always going to be a near impossible task playing a year up against a team of made up of county players.

From the beginning we were under pressure, and I think the difference, physically showed.

After going several goals behind we didn’t let our heads go down and carried on battling, with no bickering, which I was really pleased with.

Although we lost by quite a bit today, we did have some very good football being played, but the opposition was too strong and organized for us.

Excellent game from Connor who made some great saves

Next week we have Truro in the league which will be another key game at the top of the table

Waiting to hear whether it will be Saturday or Sunday.

January 6th Update

Unfortunately, the match against Truro this Sunday has been cancelled by Truro due to lack of players. I have not been able to rearrange another fixture, as all other teams playing.

We have Charlestown Dynamos in the Luke Cup Quarter final next Sunday 2 pm KO

Will undoubtedly be a challenge, and we will certainly be the underdogs, so we will need 100% from everybody.

We have drawn Saltash in the next round of the u15 county Cup due to be played in March.
